Stony Mountain Sewage Lagoon Expansion 2018

PROJECT COMPLETION:
NOVEMBER 2018

PROJECT CATEGORY:
LAGOON CONSTRUCTION

CLIENT:
PUBLIC WORK CANADA

PARTNERS:
GENERAL CONTRACTOR

In 2018 we were asked to price the completion of a lagoon expansion at Stony Mountain by a general contractor (GC) who was under contract for the work. The owner of the lagoon was Public Works Canada. The earthworks and pipework had been started in 2017 by an out of province contractor who became insolvent in the winter of 2017/18. We successfully negotiated pricing with the general and proceeded to mobilize to site in May 2018. The scope of work consisted of the construction of new lagoon berms, upgrading existing berms, supply and installation of rip rap on the lagoon slopes, installation of piping, manholes and a deep lift station and final seeding of the lagoon slopes. This was a multi-million-dollar project that ran from May of 2018 to November of 2018. A small amount of trimming was required in the spring of 2019. For most of 2018 we had a large earthworks and pipe crew onsite performing the work. While there was some hindrance with wet weather at times, overall, this was a successful project for us. It also helped us establish a relationship with a GC we had never worked with before. Since this project we have worked with this GC several times on other sites.
